As part of
our Bicol Vacation this year, I personally decided to include the visit to
Calaguas Island. Originally I calendared
Calaguas on the 3rd day of April, which was a Tuesday. But our first
days in JPANG were raining, our schedule was moved and I almost feared it
won’t materialize. Plus the fact that I was quoted a whopping 5k for an
overnight transfers to and from Calaguas which is way beyond our purses and our
supposed companions are not sure if they are joining so I almost give up on
Calaguas. Glad there’s a family scheduled to spend their vacation in what they
call Calauat island. According to my cousin Calauat ang tawag nila sa Calaguas.
I did not bother to ask why. ;-) I inquired if it’s possible that we just join
their trip and they’ll just drop us at the Mahabang Buhangin then we will just
take the public transpo the next day. At dahil mababait sila, syempre pumayag
naman.
So here
comes April 6, Good Friday.
The sea is
so calm, a perfect day for a sea travel. Kung
We left
Brgy. Osmena, Jose Panganiban at exactly 6:30 am. And since we were told that
travel could take 3 to 4 hours from our place, we were expecting to arrive
Mahabang Buhangin around 10 am.

The
view was so breathtaking, scenic, and marvelous as we navigate through the sea
and several islands which we plan to visit in our future sea travels around my
hometown. Some of the islands that I
remember were Carol Island, Parola and the bigger island Maculabo. After just more
than 2 hours of sitting and standing inside the boat we were surprised that the
boatman informed us that the we are already in front of our target island. We
arrived Mahabang Buhangin at exactly 9am.
WOW!
WOOWWW! At marami pang WOW! That was my
initial reaction as we prepare to go down the boat.
Immediately
after dropping us, the boat headed to their destination. While daddy bee was
looking for the perfect place for our tent, I took these shots using my phone.
As I expected, many are spending their holy week in this island. Proof is the tons of tents lined up in the shady places which left us a place near the beach that don’t have enough shade for us.

our poor tent. nababad sa init ng araw.

Just right
after pinching the tent we immediately hurried to the water and spend the whole
day swimming.
Sinubukan naming silang
hulihin pero ayaw nila magpa huli. Mukhang nakipaglaro lang talaga sila sa
amin.

It was 5pm
when we decided to get up and search the beach for a possible phone signal spot
Unfortunately we was
not able to call our baby dahil madamot ang signal ng araw na iyon. Kaya inaliw

pero di naman ako ang kinunan, hahahahaha
We saw the groups that are offering package tours of the islands.
namin nung gumabi.
When the
namamahala doon. At dahil marami ngang tao, people are lining outside the
common wash room. Fresh water I think
can be found at the far end of the beach aside from the poso malapit sa
tindahan.
We enjoyed
the night by making bonfire and rosting marshmallows, hehehehe, mas ok sana
Madilim,
mainit at mahirap matulog. That was the first time I experienced camping out in
a remote island.
5am when we
decided to start camping out. Don't worry, we brought our trash with us, lalo na ung plastic ng coke. Nilagyan ko ng tubig if in case, it can be use as a floater. ;-)
This is how the coastal side of Brgy. Mangkawayan looks like.
Calaguas
definitely deserves a visit especially from us fellow bikolanos. Marami pang
Babalik kami dito
at magyayaya ng mga pwedeng isama. Hopefully by that time pwede na namin isama
Calaguas. Sa uulitin po.
